Essential equipment must start with the humble whistle. This is something that takes some thought, and as you can get a perfectly serviceable example for less than a fiver, there is no need to get the wrong sort. Remember your dog must get used to picking up your commands, perhaps against a background of other whistles if you are using it in the shooting field.
